People and struggles in Greece

Synopsis

An end of study film for this film director who graduated from the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography (VGIK) in Moscow, it was produced from audiovisual archives found in Russia. Inspired by the film “Triumph over Violence”, produced in 1965 by Mikhail Romm, a study director and film director, “Visit Greece” tells the story of the first tourists – usually armed and not invited – to visit Greek territory at various periods of its history.

Tënk's opinion

This cinematographic pearl reunites, in just a few minutes, entire pages of Greek history, hitherto unknown in France. The film director chooses the aesthetic angle of silent film, equally through its music and its editing, voice-over offering us an insight into the different invasions suffered by the country. Archive news topics offer an extraordinary source of cinematographic narration and Fotos Lambrinos uses them as if he had shot these images himself. He demonstrates that cinema, be it through editing or anti-editing, is not only a source of emotional release, but also a movement of thought and ideas.
