Synopsis
Carmit Harash gives a rare, inside view of the state of Israel. With an unyieldingly hard-hitting approach, she examines the conflicting relationship between her loved ones and the permanent threat of war. Underpinning all this is their overriding sense of the bitter inevitability of this war. “Trêve” is a fine work of editing that has a purely aesthetic aim, and overlaps dialogue, close whispering and more chaotic sequences. As for politics, the filmmaker seems to be saying that, despite all, you only need wish for peace.
