Dans les rues de Saint-Louis du Sénégal, Sani Elhadj Magori, alors étudiant en Master documentaire à l’Université Gaston Berger, s’attache à filmer la chaîne alimentaire qui gravite autour du pain, de sa fabrication jusqu’au marché noir qui irrigue les réseaux de la mendicité.

This short film, shot in 3 days by Nigerian Sani Magori, has remained etched in people’s memories doubtlessly due to the content and momentum of the story, told in a mere 13 minutes. Beyond the constant string of surprises, the key point here is the pace. The film is essentially a flow of alternating sequences, ceaselessly disproving our assumptions: what we think is bread making turns out to be gestures of hunger; when we think hunger is the motive we unearth trafficking.
