Romania, 1985
Production : Sahia Film
Programmed by Federico Rossin
Synopsis
Is this film the portrait of a poultry farm or a harsh critique of the regime’s utopian ambitions? The company’s turkey breeding, work organisation and kindergarten seem exemplary, but the workers’ comments and the film’s editing add a certain ambiguity reinforced by the turkeys’ final destination. The whole takes on the status of a metaphor for the utopian and authoritarian structure of Romanian society. The film, made in 1985, was only released in 1992.
