Synopsis
Le fil conducteur du film est la mise en répétition du “Tartuffe” de Molière créé en 1995. Pour la première fois les coulisses, le processus, les secrets de fabrication des spectacles du Théâtre du Soleil sont donnés à voir. Pendant huit mois, Eric Darmon et Catherine Vilpoux ont eu la liberté de tourner toute la gestation du spectacle (scénographie, travail avec l’acteur, costumes, lumière…) et d’enregistrer la voix d’Ariane Mnouchkine par le biais d’un micro-cravate qu’elle a accepté de porter en permanence.

Eric Darmon filmed Ariane Mnouchkine and her theatre company for several months, slipping behind the scenes and making himself so invisible that he was able to give us this sneak peek into the humble mechanism, minutiae and secrets of how a show is brought to life, an exacting process we never usually get to see. We get so close to the director that we can feel her voice ringing in our heads as it beckons us in to her private creative realm, with all its stage directions, impulses and hesitations. This is a fantastic drama lesson!
