Synopsis

Over 300 years, 19 Princelet Street, Spitalfields, East London, was home to different immigrant communities: Huguenot silk merchants, Irish weavers, East European Jewish tailors. “Home” is an animated documentary which uses fabric to explore the shared experiences of community, immigration, and diversity, based on the true story of one building.

Tënk's opinion

This is a film that manages to tell history’s tragic tale mostly by depicting the inside of a house, the objects and the threads woven by women. We come across people who exist only transparently, revealing the fragility of both their situations and their very lives.  The result is an astonishing lament to the pain of exile and the persecution of believers. Using only animated images, it describes with no other narrative devices a few episodes of the eternal flight of the persecuted.
